User review of HeyWire – most widely used app

We’ve gotten plenty of user reviews since we launched three months ago, but every once and a while we get one that just really makes us smile.  We wanted to share one such review with you below (oh yeah, and he submitted an entry to our photo/video contest also):

From Brandon Thacomebackkid Frazier

HeyWire is hands-down THE most widely used application on my iPhone. It has enabled me to stay in contact with people in the US, Germany and Canada, as well as a friend in Estonia! I’m serving in the US Army stationed in Germany right now and the most popular cell phone plans don’t allow personnel to text friends outside of their service provider. HeyWire makes this possible, and even allows me to keep in touch with friends back in the states at no cost to myself or the people I write. Occasionally the program loads slowly, but I believe it’s because of the large number of contacts I have. If there were timestamps on every message and a speedier load time for large contacts, this app would be flawless. I imagine picture messaging and data transfer will be next. Overall HeyWire takes all five stars for me, and if there are people who haven’t heard me speak of HeyWire yet then they will soon!

About Brandon: I’m from Wiesbaden, Germany and originally from Texas. My cell phone is an extension of myself and I am always searching for new ways to optimize communication between myself and others. I stumbled across HeyWire while searching for something else and had to check it out. It truly is a dream come true! I enjoy the ability to send texts over data, to ANYWHERE I choose. I enjoy the friendly font and the fact that facebook chat is also available. I don’t use gtalk but if I did this would be great for me as well.

I hate to be so long-winded but I could talk about HeyWire all day!

This use to be my favourite app but for some stupid reasons,HeyWire suddenly pulled the plug on UK customers. The app doesn’t work anymore in the Uk as of 11/03/2011.
I am looking for another app to replace HeyWire for free texting. I am not alone in the UK. HeyWire effectively killed their own Market in UK.

In the heywire settings, change your country to US and use a US zip code like 19150 for Pennsylvania. I should work. It worked for me.
